For more than 50 years, many East Texans have come to depend on the Billy Bacon family tradition as the "good deal dealer" for Frankston and the surrounding areas. Billy Bacon began his automotive career in the early 1950's with Phillips Chevrolet in Frankston. In the late 50's he owned and operated the Billy Bacon Motor Co., a Ford dealership that is still located in the same building today in Frankston. Later the Ford dealership was sold and in May of 1972 he purchased the Frankston Chevrolet dealership. Then in the early 80's Billy Bacon and Jess Hickman purchased the Oldsmobile dealership in Palestine. In the late 80's and early 90's both sons returned to the business and in April of 1995 they acquired Livezey-Holcomb Autoplex in Jacksonville. It was a dealership whose roots went back to the old Cherokee Motors and G&H Motors dealerships. Then in March of 1997 they acquired Rogers Chevrolet in Palestine. A dealership whose history went back to the early 1900's. In April of 1997 they acquired Hickman Oldsmobile, a dealership Billy Bacon had owned in the early 1980's with Jess Hickman. When these two dealerships were purchased they were merged together and moved to the current location. In March of 2004 they acquired the Buick, Pontiac and GMC franchises from the Bill Rogers family, an acquisition that has allowed the Bacons to offer the entire line of General Motors cars and trucks to the Palestine area at one convenient location. In May of 2007 the Bacon family acquired Eastex Autoplex which was a combination of Elliott Chevrolet and Eaton Motor Co in Athens. Today Billy and his family have Bacon Chevrolet in Frankston, Bacon Auto Country in Jacksonville, Bacon Autoplex in Palestine and Bacon Auto Ranch in Athens. With the merging of these automotive traditions, they have a goal of providing "the most modern and well equipped dealerships in East Texas, with a large stock of cars, trucks and sport utilities, both new and pre-owned along with excellent service.
